Shimla
Shimla is the capital of Himachal Pradesh and is a very charming hill resort. It was the favorite summer resort of the British when their troops set up camp here in 1819. At an altitude of 2,130 meters, the town is a beautiful place. With the Mall and Ridge being main attractions, there are also good walking options. You can, for example, start your walk from Scandal point and Ridge, and a 2 Kms walk takes you to the Jakhoo hill which offers an excellent panoramic view of Shimla and the Hanuman Temple

What to See
Shimla offers many attractions such as the Rashtrapati Niwas, formerly the residence of the British Viceroy, the State Museum, which houses a modest collection of stone statues from different parts of Himachal Pradesh, Jakhu Temple, dedicated to Lord Hanuman, Summer Hill, Chadwick Fall, Prospects Hill, Sankat Mochan, Tara Devi and Windflower Hall. Kufri, a well - known ski resort in Himachal Pradesh, is 16 kilometres from Shimla.

When to Visit
The best time to visit is from October to November. Between December and February, winter sets in with temperatures around zero degree Celsius, and heavy snowfall in the area. April, May, and June are peak seasons for local tourists, when other parts of the country are very hot.
